Looking for a 3* hotel in Dijon- near train station
There are three of us and we will be arriving early Sunday (June 25th) morning. We will be departing the following morning (the 26th) for CDG via the train, so we would like to be near the station. However, we would also like to be somewhat central to make the most of our short time there.

Hi T I A,
The closest one is the Tulip Inn "hotel du Jura" http://www.hotel-du-jura.com/
Stu Dudley could give you his advice since he usually stays there for the same reason (early TGV to CDG).
Otherwise I would suggest a bit closer to the town center l'hotel du Nord which is on Place Darcy (close to the Triumph Arc). I like the area better and it is still not far from the station.

You can also find the Sofitel la Cloche on the other side of place Darcy but the budget is different... http://www.hotel-lacloche.com/
Welcome to Dijon!

Graziella, there are 2 Ibis actually. They are 2* that is why I didn't mention them.
One on the south side of the train station.(Previously called Ibis Dijon gare, it is now Ibis Dijon Arquebuse which sounds nicer because it is quite close to the botanical garden named jardin de l'Arquebuse) It is convenient because you just have to cross the street but you may get the view on the railways as well...
The other one, Ibis Central is on Place Grangier in front of the big (and nice) post office and next to the Galeries Lafayette. The restaurant is good and well known of the dijonnais in this one.
You can add 5-10 more minutes to go to the station.(or take a bus)

Hello,Coco, you are right I did not noticed the request for a 3*, however you know the Ibis, some times they
have many advantages that put them ahead of some 3* . I was thinking of the Ibis Central in Place Grangier, I think the building belonged to a well know hotel years ago.
You know I like very much Dijon may be all started by reading a book by MFK Fisher which I loved, did you read it?
I honestly believe that stars are some time not an accurate description of properties, but of course I also use the system but with a very open mind.

<I was thinking of the Ibis Central in Place Grangier, I think the building belonged to a well know hotel years ago.> I didn't think you were that old ;-)
Family Jacquier (who owns Sofitel,Mercure and the other Ibis) bought this one in 1955!
The building itself was built in 1928 but I don't know if there was a hotel before 55. Anyway we still call that Ibis "le Central" (like its restaurant).
Isadore204 sent me the MFK Fisher, I had a quick look (and promised myself to read it someday)and then I put it in the apartment library for my guests.

In her book MFK Fisher mentions the original names of both hotels, the one that now is a Central IBIS and the other more luxurious I believe is now the Sofitel.
But I can find the book, probably I lend it to someone. Same old story. Thank you very much. Merci bien.
(BTW I am not that old, but old enough....
