Brianna, we must have been there at the same time! Wanted to say thank you to Ben H. for tips, came in handy and I did find the fish & chips shop by Victoria Coach station, good stuff! Another highlight for us was the special series of organ recitals at Westminster Abbey for Lent (free of charge, 5:45 Sun.) Made one the of free lunch-time concerts at St. Martins-in-the-field and it was also worthwhile. Very high quality performers. I had posted prevously about the hotel I was staying in...Millenium Knightsbridge on Sloane St. which I found for 57 pounds thru londontown.com. It was okay, (great mattress)but I am glad I had the price I did because I would not have felt too good about it otherwise. My husband and I usually stay at a military club in Marble Arch which is not plush, but cheap and clean. I was beguiled by the thought of a 4-star and went for it but next time its back to the club. Speaking of hotels, I had an interesting thing e-mail waiting for me when we got home, it was from the manager of the Parkwood Hotel in London which I had recommended not staying at on another board. He had seen the post, wrote me and offered a discounted room if I wanted to try them again! I was surprised at that! Also spent a couple of days in Bath at a nice B&B (The Cranleigh) and a day in Bristol attending a stereo/audio equipment show. Went on a great tour in Bath with a gentleman who was part of the "Mayors Guides", totally free and very funny and informative. Happy to answer questions. Oh, almost forgot...heard on BBC after we left London that the millennium footbridge reopened.

robbyn: it's a pedestrian only footbridge over the Thames that was built for the millennium celebration but hasn't worked properly and has been closed.

Just saw your post about the millenium footbridge re-opening.. we were in London last week and had not been aware that the bridge was closed...(this was the day before we left; my feet were killing me, and i was, honestly getting tired..) we had planned to get to the Tate Modern via the Mbridge..alas when we got there and I realized we had to walk all the way around via the next closest bridge i almost started crying...The Tate was worth it though..and while we were inside they were filming an interview with some ? bigwig? out on the bridge..so that was our experience with that!!...<BR>

I was in England last week...the Millenium Bridge has re-opened after many months of re-engineering to correct for excessive swaying. The re-opening made a big splash on the nightly news.

Ahh...that would explain the camera crew and fuss on the bridge. <BR>We didn't see the newsbroadcast as we were leaving early the next morning....<BR> ..just as well. I would have cried...<BR>haha.<BR> Oh well!! At least the WEATHER was great the whole time we were there!!!!<BR>=) &lt;---still smiling

Christine: I know how you feel, for some reason I really, really wanted to walk across the bridge too and was very disappointed when I found it was still closed on our arrival. Then to realize it opened and I couldn't get back to London before we left was a teeth-grinder! Had a good time anyway and I guess it's an experience to go back for.

Well Bonnie; that's ONE of the MANY reasons I'd like to go back; London was fabulous experience - I just couldn't get enough!!!<BR><BR>=)
