London Travel Information Centre in Heathrow?

Greetings, I need to get to a London Travel Information Centre, to get my London Travelpass validated. I see one of them is in the Heathrow Tube station. I can't find any hint of where that actually is within Heathrow from the Heathrow website, but the London Transport website seems to suggest it's a distance from terminal 3 (where I'm landing). Is that the case?

Since we plan on taking the Heathrow Express into town, are the two close by, by any chance? (i.e. Can I drop in to the Centre on my way to the Heathrow Express station for Terminal 3?)

If not, I'll have to make my way to Picadilly Circus tube station or Victoria Station, which is a bit of a pain.

Many Thanks,

Mike

the tube station is kept well hidden so travellers will give up and take the priceyer heathrow express instead which has huge signs advertising it all over the place

According to this page, they're all over Heathrow, in addition to many more than Piccadilly and Victoria downtown:

Robspierre, thanks - I had seen that webpage, but when I went looking to see where the centre actually was at heathrow, it appears there's only single centre : http://tfl.gov.uk/tfl/ftt_tic_tfl.shtml, it says "Heathrow 123 Underground Station", and using the Journey Planner Tool shows a map of Heathrow, with only a single Tube Station, close to Terminals 1 & 2, but far from Terminal 3. I just wanted to confirm if that was the case, and/or if it was near the Heathrow Express platform.

Thanks

You follow the same tunnel from T3 to the tube station and the Heathrow Express station. Shortly before you get to the tube station, the tunnel to the express station heads off to the left. They are not that far apart. But I wouldn't recommend validating the pass at Heathrow. The tube station there always seems full of confused and befuddled first time visitors who can't seem to comprehend how to use the ticket vending machines, causing long queues at the manned ticket windows.

Ah, the conveniences of buying travel passes in advance instead of just getting them at the first station you use when you get to London. Not.

Ron, thanks for the excellant advice - I hadn't thought about the mass of first time tube visitors! I'll just bite the bullet and go to Picadilly or Victoria.

Does anyone know whether I can validate my family's passes myself, or does everyone have to be there in person? Can't find anything online which discusses this.

Thanks!

Last May I just followed signs to the Tube and the travel center was right there. However it was a long walk through tunnels. Validating the pass was quick and simple and travel time about 50 minutes to Victoria station (though it can be longer). Because my luggage managed to gain weight during my 2 week stay, I decided to scrap the Tube and long walk and took a cab back to Heathrow.

As mentioned above, the travel centre is right across the tube station (about 20 yerds)for terminal 1,2, and 3. Usually the line is no more than 2-3 people, you don't have to wait for long. I always buy my Zone 1&2 travel card plus one supplement for Zone 6 over there.
