Leicestershire is quite a large county, but as a guide, a train from London St. Pancras to Leicester might take around one and a half to two hours. It would be no quicker by car, unless you were heading for part of the county less accessible from the main trainlines.

As Barfly says, Leicestershire is large and is served by several rail companies. It really does depend on where abouts you are heading. Let us know this and we may be able to help you some more.
