London to Edinburgh

Hi,

I'm looking to get to Edinburgh cheaply on the 18/MAY/04 for around a week, and then back to London, or straight over to Sweden. Would anyone know of a good flight route to take, eg. LON(STN) to Dublin seems realy cheap, but Dublin to EDI seems very expensive!

I guess I may have left it too late to get a good deal, but I'm now thinking about the sleeper train now http://www.scotrail.co.uk/ instead of flying.

Thanks,
Neil

I'm confused, Neil. Where did Dublin come into this?

Have you tried easyJet? Their website shows LGW to Edinburgh for 31.99 GBP (plus tax & fees) on the 18th and fares as low as 21.49 returning a week later.

If cost is more of a factor than time, consider the bus. I did it many years ago and it cost much less than the train and took 8 hours. They used to leave from Victoria bus station, right in the heart of London.

Shelia: Flights to Dublin seem pretty cheap, and I read somewhere that it could be added in to the journey, with a saving over direct flights, maybe.

I have looked at easyjet.com, flybe.com, ba.com and ryanair.com, couldn't find prices that low though, do'h! I'll have another look.

I'll probably take the sleeper train up, only GBP29 up, as I'll be going with another traveller, but I'll need to get back somehow, on the 24th. I'll look at easyjet.com again.

Thanks guys, could I go to Dublin from Edinburgh on a cheap flight at all? or anywhere in Europe? or is Edinburgh an expensive airport?

Do the easyjet prices go up nearer the date of the flight? If yes, when is a good time to book, eg. 14 days in advance is when they start to go up.

Thanks,
Neil

Dublin is home of Europe's largest low-fare airline Ryanair. Tonnes of flights to many points in the UK, including Edinburgh.

Depending on the day and flight, it can be as low as 50-60 € each way, or as high as 200 €. I guess they don't have too much competition on this route, so go 1 € fare.
