London Theater Tickets/Billie Elliot

Will we be able to pick up Theater tickets when we reach London? At the box office, tkts, someplace else? Besides Billie Elliot any other suggestions from recent experiences?

You can pick up tickets at the theatre , but I prefer to book and pay online thru http://www.officallondontheatre.co.uk

They do charge a small fee but when we saw BE last March, I was very glad we had. Their CC machine broke down and people were scrambling for cash or running out to find an ATM. It ws nice to have the voucher in hand and be able to have a seat and a drink!

If there's not one thing in particular you're dying to see, you can wait and go to the TKTS booth (or one of the other booths around Leicester Square), or check the box offices when you get there. The price and seats will vary. You probably won't get much of a discount on the more popular ones by waiting, at least in my experience (although we just tried the booths; I've had a friend that got £10 tickets to Les Mis at the box office). Basically, if you really want the best seats or a particular show, book in advance. It's worth it. If you just want to go to the theatre and aren't picky about which show, you can wait till you get there.

Suggestions... Wicked is amazing. Sets and costumes for Lion King are fantastic. Les Mis is my all-time favorite. Just depends on what you like.

Actually, go to the site I listed above. You can see reviews of all the shows in London and vicinity. You can also see what's on offer at TKTS for today. That will at least give you an idea of what might be available at a lesser price.

Billy Elliot isn't available at TKTS. It is one of the few shows you really should book ahead if you are in London a short time since many nights are sold out.
