London Shows
Hi - I will be in London the 3rd week in April visiting my daughter who is a student over there this semester. What recommendations do you have about seeing a show? We will be staying at the Riverside Park Plaza (Embankment Road) - due to open in april. Not sure how far it is from a good theater? I don' know my way around - any suggestions would be appreciated!

Here are some sites which will give you some of the information you requested. They were helpful when planning our last trip to London.

If you want to try to get tickets to one of the more popular shows (Mary Poppins, The Producers, Woman in White) book tickets early. We tried to get tickets in January for our trip in February and they were all sold out. We didn't book the trip until January so the popular shows weren't available.

A really great site that I found first referenced here on Fodors is theatremonkey.com. Check it out -- they have a compilation of special offers, seating plans for all the theatres so you know where the best seats are and which to avoid, and also a ticket ordering service that can sometimes get you hard-to-find tickets.

Just to let you know that Embankment Road is close to many theatres- you'll be walking distance to any near Covent Gardens. Check out any maps of London theatres and you'll be very happy with your hotel choice. Wow, a brand-new hotel! And if you choose a show elsewhere, taking the underground will work perfectly well.
