We’re looking into the Tune Hotel, Kings Cross, to save money on lodgings. Yes, the rooms appear small. Yes, there are no closets. Yes, everything (including towels) is an “add-on.” But with the low price of the room, that add-on amount is really minimal. Besides, we don’t plan on being inside much. And reviews state that the beds and towels are very comfy.

London Central - yes that AYH is the flag ship hostel for AYH in London - close to St Paul's cathedral on a little lane in some old factory or school or something - very big but very safe and well organized (though I have not stayed there in sometime - it still gets good reviews and a great location.)

"It really isn't."
I would say that it is. Kings Cross is not downright dangerous, but way less pleasant than most of the other areas mentioned. I've had quite a few friends have possessions stolen there and it doesn't have a very nice vibe even during the day. I'd steer clear of it unless I really needed to be there.

Oh yeh I should have realized that - I stayed there many times - St Paul's hostel when I was younger and at that time it, along with Holland House, was the only London YHA hostels I believe.
Thanks for the correcto!
