A good London Hostel?

Looking for a good London Hostel.

One that I can...

- Truly experience London.
- Central location to "touristy" sites.
- Be safe.
- I'm not too concerned with price.

I have a question - If you are not concerned w/ the price, why do you want to stay in a hostel?

A few general comments - no one hostel/hotel/B&B will be close to more than a few tourist sites. Central London is vast and the major sites are spread from The Tower of London in the east to to Kensington in the west. (And when you factor in Greenwich and Hampton Court Palace you are talking about 18-20 miles) But the public transport is very good so you can get anywhere from just about anywhere.

London is a vert safe city - as cities go. Just take normal precautions and you will be fine most anywhere.

And finally - hostels in London are OK but not great bargains by any means. You can stay in a small hotel w/ private bath for about what the better hostels charge. And using Priceline you can get a 4 star place for only a bit more.

Perhaps the most central London hostel is http://www.piccadillyhotel.net .

You can read reviews at http://www.bugeurope.com . It seems safe.

You can often get very good deals for hostels at http://www.studios92.com .

I answered this before I saw bamassippi's other thread where he says his budget is $20 per night. Even at a hostel that is a pretty tall order. The Generator was mentioned on the other thread - but even there the only rooms at £10-£12 are the 14 person and 8 person dorms.

Studios92.com will allow him to meet his budget, but not in the most central hostel.
