London restaurant suggestions

Looking for one more restaurant for our 4 nights in London. Other picks are Dishoom, Padella, and the 10 Cases. We will have been eating traditional English fare in the country so not as interested in that in London. We’re from the US so we’d also like to avoid Latin American and American food as we can find that here, easily. Looking for something different from our other picks, budget would be around £100. Not big into “fine dining”, just a good meal with nice decor and atmosphere. Appreciate any suggestions you might have for us!

I'd go for something middle eastern, like Honey & Co, or their other restaurant Honey & Smoke.
Or go to Brasserie Zedel for French food.

We really liked Quilon's "South-west coastal Indian cuisine". http://www.quilon.co.uk

MoBro: I wanted to fit Quilon in on my last visit - didn't work out. Good to know you enjoyed it.

We liked it a lot, janisj. The seafood attracted us, and it was well worth the visit. This was a few years ago, but I assume it's still as good.

£100 for how many people?
If you like lively and people watching with a great atmosphere, try Randall & Aubin in Soho. You might be frightened away by the buzz and there may be a small wait but they really know how to handle what may appear to be chaotic at first. It's also not at all snobby as you might assume at first look. Highly recommended.

I want to like Dishoom as I like what they are trying to do but i'm not a fan. Service lets it down (several visits in different locations) and I'm really not impressed by the food. They've expanded fast and they are extremely popular often with very long queues. The last time I visited one, they seemed more keen on trying to upsell everything than they were about the basic service.

We loved Scully St. James’s.

Also Merchants Tavern in Shoreditch.

I kind of liked Dishoom (went to the one in Shoreditch), but it's nothing special.

I liked Merchants Tavern, we went for the chef's table but not a patch on the chef's table at The Gilbert Scott.

The problem with London, and it's not a bad problem, is that there are so many great places to eat that it's almost impossible to narrow down suggestions.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions; we leave today and I’ll do some looking at them in the airport. There are two of us.
