Fun, swanky , good dinner in London - suggestions?

My sisters and I are going to be in London for a few days and one of the nights we'd love to have a fun, swanky (and good!) dinner at a hot spot. We're willing to splurge, but not break the bank. Any suggestions?

Zuma in Knightsbridge is still pretty popular (although my feeling is it gets a little less traffic than it used to).
Their Japanese style food (not at all limited to the ubiquitous Sushi and Sashimi) is rather good. Whether it breaks the bank or not depends on the size of the bank account.

Ha - good point. I should have mentioned that it's 3 sisters in their 20s (the size of the bank account is not huge - but we're willing to spend more than usual because we're only in London for a few days. Any Italian or Indian suggestions?

"fun, swanky (and good!) dinner at a hot spot"

Zaika is probably the Indian restaurant that best matches your criteria; super menus, and well designed restaurant.

However, the one restaurant that really fits the bill is Sketch. Very pricey, but perhaps you could go there for lunch just for the experience.

I have been to London a few times and have heard of Sketch - always have wanted to go but have never fit it in. We will definitely have to go for lunch or a cocktail at some point. Thanks so much for the suggestions. Zaika sounds great!

We really need a number. "we're willing to spend more than usual doesn't help since none of us know what your usual is.

Tell us about how much you are willing to spend per person and we can make all sorts of recommendations that will fit your budget.

My friend and I went to Zaika in December on m_kingdom’s recommendation and were very pleased (you will find the restaurant review by clicking on my name – the thread is “best Indian fusion in London”).

We paid 58GBP for the Gourmet menu without wine/78GBP with wine.

Set menus are from 35GBP per person.
