What is the best way to get from London to Paris? I'm told book last-minute & fly for really cheap (but i don't know where to book that, worse...i wouldn't wanna be stranded anywhere so prefer knowing beforehand).
I'm under 26 so will be eligible for Youth prices.
Also, how much would cell phones cost there? I need bare minimum but don't want to rent cuz they're too expensive.
thanks.

I second the chunnell. The train is called Eurostar. You can book tickets through a discount agency called BETS. Type in the search engine BETS and see if their phone number comes up. You can get the Eurostar for 75.00 is you purchase a Britrail pass.

Youth fares for those under 26 can be as low as $45 (Mon-thu) or $60 or $75 subject to availability - $75 is the most you'd pay (one way London-Paris). these can be hard to book so book as far in advance as possible. Yes, i also recommend BETS (800-441-2387) for their expert Eurostar service. At $45 you can't beat that by flying - especially since you'd have to pay to get to the airports and back in each city.

thanks for your suggestion. I can get return ticket for US$135.00 thru eurostar.com. Only reason I didn't book it right now is because I'm not sure of the dates that I'll be there. Wonder if you can change the date.

The standard current price for a basic pay as you go mobile phone is about £30, including £5-£10 of "free" calls.
That's what you'll pay in Marks + Spencer, Britain's biggest sort of department store chain. Shop around electrical specialists like Dixons or discount places like supermarkets or Woolies and you'll normally find something around £20, though usually without call vouchers. Any row of shops in Britain will have lots of phone retailers. And the phones work right away.
You can buy prepaid topup vouchers just about anywhere with a cash till. Search here or (better) the Thorntree site for information on buying French SIMs

You can get a return ticket thru Raileurope (or BETS, a RE agent who doesn't charge some of their fees) for $90 (Mon-thu) - looks like the $135 (these are also Raileurope prices) has you going in a $60 period and returning in a $75 period - thus $135 as you can mix fare levels for the round trip price.
