London Marriot Hotels - which one?

My four friends and I are staying on Marriot Points for free in London over Thanksgiving. Which hotel would be best? We love to wander streets with interesting stores and window shop, grab a quick pint in a neighborhood pub, be close to nightlife and great restaurants (fodorites have already provided invaluable insights on places to go)...but I'm at a loss as to which hotel we should go to. Any thoughts? Dear Ms Kittridge,

Oh dear: that's a problem. I think Marriotts deliberately place their hotels in rich but quiet areas, so that business tycoons can rest between million-dollar deals. With your ideas, your best bet will be Grosvenor Square.

Welcome to London.

Ben Haines
Absolutely Grosvenor Square! We stayed there on reward points over Thanksgiving 2000 and loved the hotel and the location. A pub is right next door, Oxford Street for shopping is a block away and the Bond Street tube is just around the corner. I'm sure the others are OK also but this was ideal! I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Grosvenor Square is great - BUT County Hall is the best location. it is right on the river across from Big Ben. Many rooms overlook the Thames, London Eye and Parliament. All of the things you seek are scattered in every section of central London. If you want to be in a quiet POSH district close to livlier areas take the Grosvenor Square - If you want to wake up in the morning to a glorious view of the river and walking distance to Westminster Abbey and Trafalgar Square take County Hall.

I've stayed at the Regents Park. It's in an area of remodeled townhomes, out of the hustle and bustle. It was quite a can ride to anywhere......and completely American right down to the furnishings. It looks like I was staying in Minneapolis. I was glad I didn't spend more than one night.
