London......Lord Mayor`s Show?

I shall be in London for a few weeks in November and noticed the Lord Mayor`s Show takes place on the 12th with a fireworks display after. Comments appreciated on anyone who has attended recently.

You may find the parade part a bit low-key by comparison with a big New York parade. As one comedian once put it "They have 30-fit inflatables, and what do we get? A dozen girl guides on bicycles", which is a bit unkind. The new Lord Mayor and various dignitaries do their bit in fancy carriages, including the gilded one that's normally in the Museum of London, but it's mostly a collection of bands, floats and organisations (charitable, social, military) with City connections, often with a commercial element, and it can look a bit haphazard. Personally I prefer to see it (if at all) on TV in the warm, but if you haven't anything else to do that day, it could be worth a look.

The fireworks (not right after the parade, but at 5pm) are not usually on TV and are pretty spectacular, although the display only lasts for about 10 minutes.

Oh, Patrick, I heard that the London parade was "30 inflatable girl guides on bicycles". Or did I get that mixed up?

Thank you Patrick London.....I had been to the website before and was considering ordering grandstand tickets. But I think I shall take your advice and just amble over to Temple on that day and have a look-see.

Girl Guides on bicycles???
