If you look at the following website, you will see a picture of a Burberrys label inside a coat. There appears at first glance to be an apostrophe after the s, but on closer examination, you'll see there is one at the beginning as well. In other words, they are single quotation marks around the whole name.

As I can't sleep and am bored I went and checked some things...
On the Gordon Ramsay website Claridge's does have an apostrophe.
Inside my Burberry kilt (non-patterned I hasted to add) the label says Burberry with no 's' and no apostrophe anywhere.

I'm reminded of looking at shirts in a Turkish bazaar and seeing Polo Ralph Lauren shirts really cheap. I looked closer and noticed the polo player emblem wasn't stitched into the fabric, but sewn on. Then I noticed the label which said "Ralph Luaren". I kid you not.

Papagena, did you read my post??? I said Burberry USED TO BE Burberrys. I think they changed the name sometime in the early 1990's. So, unless your kilt is more than 10 years old, it would say, Burberry.
Yes, Patrick, I know the website for Claridges says, "Claridge's." That is my point. I think they changed the name over the last few years from "Claridges." I think I am going to email the hotel or my Aunt Pat (she would definitely know) and ask.

But since you bring it up, here's a website you can go to for the history of Claridge's. According to them, the apostrophe has been there since the 1800's. If you look at the sign in front in some very old pictures (including a pictorial book of London in the 1920's that I have) you will see the apostrophe in the sign in front just as it is today -- in fact it appears to be the same sign.
