My daughter bought an inexpensive curling iron at Walgreen's that runs on some kind of replaceable gas cylinder (tube?). She has had it for years and uses it for all her travel, not just foreign. There is no problem with checking it through in luggage.

Carolyn: That would be a butane curling iron. One is allowed one curling iron and its attached butane canister. However - spare/extra canisters are not allowed in either checked or carry on bags.

Thanks for all the info! I will be leaving my straightener and curling iron here in Texas! Can't believe it's coming up so fast! 10 days left before we leave!!!
