I'm in completely shock and my daughter can't stop talking about the bombing in Manchester. Her favorite singer is Ariana Grande we saw her concert here in Denver. We were supposed to see Bruno Mars in Milan next month. Now I'm just so in shock, mad at why this keeps happening. All these kids dead and injured 20 and hundreds injured.. I'm so da... mad at the crazy people who keep doing this to innocent. Needless to say going to London is in the back burner now. My heart goes to all of you who live in the UK. Sorry for the rant.

Yes, it was infuriating and tragic, but I hope you don't mean you are thinking of staying home? Does the Boston marathon bombing mean you wouldn't go to Boston? The Orlando bombing that you wouldn't go to Florida? Would the murder rate in Chicago keep you from visiting there?
Yes, these terrorist acts are scary, but you are still more likely to die in a car crash on the way to the airport. European cities are still safer than American ones.

@pookymini, don't cancel your trip. This BS happens everywhere now sadly, in one form or another (yes, I'm talking about the gun violence epidemic in my country). But we keep going to concerts and the movies, flying on airplanes, living, and loving because what is the alternative? Answer: not a world I want to live in-closed, paranoid, untrusting, without color. I'm not ready to die but if I have to go, I hope it's doing something I love and not on a highway in a car accident. Just my 2 cents.
Peace and love from (a dangerous and wonderful American city) New Orleans.

well said, thursdaysd, rs, and nola. My DS is going to London next weekend and after we heard the terrible news from Manchester my immediate thought was to ask him not to go but then I realised that I was being ridiculous.
It was arguably much more dangerous for him to walk home from the station [2 miles away] in the dark last night. most of his route is along a footpath and he wears a reflective jacket, but it has taken me a while for me to get used to him doing it.

So Many things to do in London. Does your daughter like Harry Potter? Harry Potter Studios is great. Or go see a show, the London eye and buckingham palace are standard tourist points. THere's a few ice bars and Harrods and Hamleys is great. It's a must see in Europe

No we aren't canceling the trip. If you are familiar with flying with miles, it would cost me a fortune to pay to refund the miles for 4 miles tickets (round trip), plus losing the actual tickets I paid to Boston.
We are just digesting it. It's been a shock as mentioned daughter's favorite singer is Ariana and she's been begging me to take her to Barcelona to see her. I just feel for the parents who lost their kids. So many kids were alone at the concert here in Denver. Daughter now understands why I would not let her go to these alone.
We are just reconsidering going to Bruno Mars' concert in Milan only. Just to avoid crowds.
I'm back to searching for accommodations in London.

Glad to here you are not cancelling. I understand these things are scary, but London is huge and generally very safe, I am sure you will have a lovely time. You will notice extra security in public places which will likely give you comfort.
Terrible things going on right now in the world everywhere.

Hi,
I loved London. I recently summarised it all in a post, which you can see here:
https://alikerofthings.wordpress.com...don-in-winter/
But basically, what I liked was the amount of attractions, museums, galleries, famous landmarks and the theatre!
If you are a Harry Potter fan, then it just makes it better.
Regards,

Pookimimi I felt the same as you about London . I thought it seemed too like where I live , so boring to me , loved visiting Europe , but never went to London . Then I was invited in a trip with a free place to stay , so that was that booked my airline ticket .
Then I got to work trying to build some enthusiasm . For me I started reading some history , historical novels , biographies ,and just a few guide type books . Made a big difference .
I've been back four more times now !
My favourite museums are the Victoria and Albert and the Imperial War Musuem ( not the weapons and tanks section , but the Holocaust sections and the Britian at war section)
