London hotels/Birthday surprise trip

I am hoping to surprise my husband with a trip to London for our anniversary in January.

I have the opportunity to cash in on some credit cards points, and in my "point range" there are three properties: the Grosvenor, the Milestone and the Le Meridien Piccadilly.

Can anyone provide some input on the properties? (location is important but not as much as cleanliness, and nice rooms). thanks in advance.

All three are extremely nice upscale hotels. (You must have saved a LOT of points)

If it were me, I'd pick the Grosvenor or Milestone since they are on Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens, but all three are very good.

Thanks very much for your reply. (incidentally, i only have enough points for one night.. have to suck it up and pay for the other two or three nights...)

Just a suggestion, but why not just pay for all your hotel nights. You can probably stay somewhere nice and convenient and still pay less than what 2 or 3 nights at the Grosvenor would cost. We stayed at the Rubens-at-the-Palace Hotel in May and, while not luxurious, it is a 4* hotel right by Buckingham Palace. It is only a few blocks from Victoria Station and walking distance to many attractions, parks, etc. Booked our room through www.londontown.com and got a great rate. I think their current rate for January 2003 is 123 Pounds, but I also found many other nice 4* properties for less than that on the website. You can also check out www.redcarnationhotels.com for any specials being offered at the Rubens.
