London hotel question
My wife and I are meeting our granddaughter in London for a couple of days in November. We would like to stay in one room. What hotel would be suitable? We have been there a few times by ourselves, but the three person in a room complicates it. We had stayed in the Plaza on Hyde Park before but can't find a room available on their website.

How old is your granddaughter? In my experience (which admittedly is not that vast) I haven't found any hotels that have triples for 3 adults. I've found hotels that have family rooms allowing up to 2 adults and 2 children - but the children are limited to 16 yrs of age.
If your granddaughter is older than 16, perhaps an apartment type rental like Scala House or Citadines. I'm not sure if there is a surcharge for stays less than 7 days, though.

Hmmm . . . in thinking about my response, let me also qualify that by saying that in my searches, I was looking for hotels within a certain price range - specifically, budget hotels under 100 GBP per night.
Perhaps there may be hotels in a higher price range that do allow 3 adults per room. I'm sure someone else will be able to tell you.

It's been about 15 years, but I stayed in a room large enough for three at the Grosvenor Hotel. It's next to Victoria Station (although there wasn't any noise where we were.) Don't know the price, either, but perhaps it's a place to start.

Take a look at what's available on Londontown.com, which allows you to search for a room for 3 people. I entered some random dates in November, and the search found 7 hotels that had rooms for 3 people available. I wasn't familiar with any of those hotels, but I'm sure people here could answer questions about them if you thought any of them looked promising.

Definitely check out Travel Inn County Hall. We stayed there at the beginning and end of our trip this summer, having 2 different family rooms. The cost is 85/night (without breakfast), and we were very happy with both of the rooms we received. We had room 402 when we first arrived in London, and as I've said in a prior post, 10 beds would have fit in that room. It was very comfortable and very clean. Yes, some will say it's basic, and it is, but it had all the amenities we needed - even tea and cookies replenished daily. Each of our rooms was on the end of the County Hall Building (which also houses the Marriott), overlooking the park next to the property, the Eye, and even a view of the Thames as we sat in our large windowsill! I would return there at any opportunity.

How old is your grandaughter? It makes a big difference. There are lots of hotels with triples/family rooms - but many limit guests to 2 adults in the room -plus 1 or 2 children. There are some that allow 3 adults - but we need to know how old she is to know where to recommend.
for instance, the County Hall TravelInn is in a terrific location. Their rooms will sleep up to 4 -- but unless their rules have changed in the last few months, they only allow a maximum of two adults in a room.
Many rooms that do allow 3 adults will be very cramped.
If she is an adult, you'll be better off space-wise and probably budget-wise renting a 1 or 2-bedroom flat. Many 1 bbdrms often have sofabeds so they will easily sleep 3.
