London hotel 1 night - advice please

I need advice on a hotel in London for one night that is easy to get to Gatwick. We will be returning from Germany around 5:30pm (via RyanAir - Stansted) on a Sunday night and then departing from London to the states at noon on Monday. (unfortunately did not know about open jaw flying when we booked our flights)

The room would be for myself and my almost 4 year old son only. Ease of getting to Gatwick and a safe environment are *very* important to me since it will just be the munchkin and myself.

Thanks in advance!
Vicki

The Thistle Victoria is adjacent to Victoria Station (with an entrance through the station), and that is where the Gatwick Express train comes into London. Couldn't be easier.

Thank you for your response! I think the Thistle is probably just what I was looking for! The interior looks beautiful and the price is right.

Thanks again!

If going to the thistle Victoria request a room on the sixth floor with even number (ex: 612,618)
These will give you a nice view of the very busy intersection below. I could spend hours and hours watching people there! Odd numbers( at least on the 6th floor) ovelook the top of Victoria Station and isnt really too great.
FYI... we went to London in Sept.and stayed at the Thistle Victoria for 71.00 US per night through Priceline. Might be worth a shot to see what ypu can get!
The Thai place behind the Thistle is great for dinner and is pretty inexpensive compared to some of the highly overpriced steakhouses etc. you will find.

Except with Priceline, you would have to bid in the Westminster zone, which is pretty big and extends well beyond Victoria Station (in fact it goes across the river). Priceline is what I generally recommend, but this poster specifically wants to be by Victoria Station, so I think it's not a good choice in this case.

Another very convenient choice in that immediate area is the Holiday Inn Victoria. We picked up a pre-pay rate on the website for 73.50 GBP.

It's an option if the Thistle wouldn't work out for some reason or if you have Priority Club points to burn.
