Speaking of the buskers in Covent Garden, we had a neat experience in April 2007:
We were walking through with our kids and grandsons and the 11 year old was really enjoying a girl in copper paint done up like the "Girl in flowered Hat" by Rodin (I thnk that's the name of the sculpture). None of us knew at the time about the sculpture, however. We had his picture taken with her.
Next week we were at the Rodin museum in Paris and he spots the sculpture, which is just the bust of her face. He immediately recognized it and it made for a really cool "oh, wow" moment.

Further to previous - one of our favourite wine bars in all of London is the wine bar at Cafe des Amis - a bit hard to find (about as close to Covent Garden as you can get, but feels miles away). I'd definately recommend you check it out if you're looking for a quiet glass of wine. http://www.cafedesamis.co.uk/
The restaurant upstairs is also fantastic, if you can afford the bills - worth the price, but a bit pricey, if you know what I mean...
