London- 2 and 1/2 days, what not to miss?

I have never been to London. I will only be there for about two and a half days. Could I have some advice on what not to miss in my short stay? Thanks!

Can you give us some clues on your interests and when you're travelling? Answers would depend on these. But in general, try some of the walking tours. All museums are free of charge.

I would skip Harrods - it is just a huge overrated department store - then again I live in a Chicago suburb where we have lots of malls and big stores.

St. Pauls Cathedral was my favorite church and the area around Westminster has lots to see. I would also do the hop on hop off bus to see what strikes your fancy as you are touring the city. That alone could take you all day.

Definitely, it depends on your interests. We had 2-1/2 days in London at the beginning of our European 5 city trip. We arrived jet lagged, but raring to go. After checking in to our hotel, we toured the British Library and then took a sunset ride on the London Eye. Next AM, we did the Hop On/Hop Off bus tour, the Tower of London, the Thames cruise (came w/ bus tour), St. Paul's for Evensong, and ended at the British Museum. On our 3rd and final 1/2 day, we did Westminster Abbey and then had to catch a train to Stansted to fly to Salzburg.

4 moms took a group of high school students and we had to accommodate various interests. I don't think I could pick a favorite thing we did, it was all wonderful!

Next trip, I want to throw in a trip to Parliament and a show at the recreated Globe on the Thames.

I don't think you'd find London Bridge particularly thrilling! 8-)

I'd say, The London Eye, The Tower, A street market, tour of HP/Westminster Abbey, a curry, and Liberty's. V&A is my favourite museum if you have the time for that as well.

I love Greenwich too, but won't recommend it if you're only there for a couple of days as it's not central.

I'd go with the above -say London Eye, The National Gallery, Covent Garden in one day. Liberty, Hyde Park and the Tower on another. Not Harrods. Definitely the bus ride. Afternoon tea at Brown's.

Have a lovely trip.
