Lodging recs for Salzburg- under 90E/night??
Hello all! My mom and I will be staying in Salzburg for 3 nights mid-June. We're looking for a hotel, B&B, or pension with free parking as we will have a car. A great breakfast would be a huge plus, and we do not want to spend more than 90 E/night for a double. (Really, we try to stay in the 75 E-80 E range...)
Thanks for any and all suggestions!

ttt- surely someone out there has stayed in Salzburg for 90 E/night or less
Which I guess I will tag another question onto this post. Should we even stay in Salzburg??? We will be coming from Fussen on our way to Munich, so we'll be keeping our car. One priority is the Sound of Music tour. Another would be seeing some sort of summer concert. So is there another town you might rec. to day trip in.....?
TIA!

I believe I recall someone else posting a similar question within the last month or so. I think the problem may be finding a hotel in Salzburg that includes free parking.
We stayined in Schonau, near Berchtesgaden in May and loved it. Berchtesgaden is a wonderful little town in a stunning location about an easy 20 minute drive from Salzburg. We stayed in an apartment for a week and drove to Salzburg on three different occassions. There are plenty of hotels in the area, and most have free parking. Check out http://www.berchtesgadener-land.info...1A71EAC9BC5CAF for more information.
Good luck!

TXgalinGA, I think your free parking request is the problem. We stayed at the Hotel Trumer Stube which is in a great location but we had to park on the street. My husband recalls the streets around the hotel were very narrow. It's a great hotel though but I think it's running around 100 E per night during the summer.

Hi,
Last August we stayed at a nice guesthouse just outside Salzburg, called hotel Simmerlwirt - http://www.sallerhof.com/hotel/simmerl1e.htm There was free parking, lovely views, great breakfast (home made breads, cake, cheese, cold meats, etc.). Easy 15 minute drive into Salzburg and easy access to/from the motorway. I believe there's also a bus that goes into the city centre. We paid approximately 60 euros for a large, comfortable double room with bathroom, including breakfast.
We actually booked via the Sallerhof guesthouse which was our first choice but was fully booked for our dates. It is located in the same area and also seems excellent value - www.sallerhof.com
