Lodging in Stratord on Avon

My husband and I will be in Stratford for one night accompanied by my son and his wife. I am looking for recommendations for hotels or B&B's that are reasonably priced, since we are paying all expenses. We will be taking the train from London and so will not have a car. Would like to hear of ones that you have liked/disliked.

What do you mean by "reasonably priced"? In other words, give an idea of the sort of budget you have in mind so the suggestions you get are the most helpful to you.

I have booked one night at the Emsley - gets great reviews and the owners have been very responsive and nice via e-mail and phone. The Warwick Room is costing the three of us 90 GBP for B&B.

That's 90 total (30pp). Check out the Emsley Guest House on Tripadvisor. I haven't stayed there yet but it looks nice - and as we also are depending on train, it is close to the station. Others may have recommendations from experience...

We liked the Caterham House which was walking distance to the theater and shopping district. Stratford is not one of my favorite places and I probably won't return but worth going to if you want to see a play.

Gosh, hard to know what reasonably priced is in England these days. We need two rooms, so if we could get by for $300 US total, I guess we would consider that reasonable given the exchange rate. But, I may be way off

Check out this one -- it is just a tad above your budget w/ rooms at £85-£95 double. But the rooms are gorgeous.

Some friends stayed at 'Appletrees' 194 Alcester Road recently as we didn't have room for them at our home. They said the rooms were lovely, bright and modern with en-suite bathrooms. Breakfast was excellent too. Price very reasonable. I think it was 50GBP for the room.

Appletrees is a family run bed and breakfast offering a warm welcome in comfortable surroundings.

Two double and one twin/double rooms are available, all finished to a very high standard and providing en suite, colour TV and tea/coffee making facilities.

Being just a short walk from Ann Hathaways Cottage, the town centre, Shakespeare's birth place and the theatres, the accomodation is ideally situated and has the benefit of off road parking for all guests.

Correction- rooms are 60 pounds per night. See Tripadvisor.com for review. Just google Appletrees

I'd be wary of begbie's recommendation. Fodor's just nuked him - probably for advertising his website . . . . .
