Lodging in Bruges with canal view

Hi, I'll be in Bruges this July and am looking for a place that has rooms overlooking/on a canal. Ideally, I'd like a room with balcony overlooking a canal but I'm finding you can have one or the other. Any suggestions?

The Hotel Adornes has rooms overlooking one of the canals. No balconies, however. It's on St Annarei, a quiet street about a 12 minute walk from the centre of Bruges. We stayed there in 2002 (or 2003, perhaps) and found it comfortable, quiet, and spotlessly clean. The front desk staff were helpful and gracious. Breakfast was included, if I remember correctly.

Here's a link to their website:

Goodness, I was also about to recommend the Adornes as we stayed there last year - infact I organised a trip for a group of 16 friends and chose the Adornes not just for location and price but also because their staff were SOOO helpful in helping me with various questions and aspects of my trip.

Normally I would not post merely to repeat the suggestions of others, but I loved the Hotel Adornes so much I just have to do so! The front desk was staffed by delightful people, the view from our room was gorgeous, and the breakfast was delicious. Enjoy your visit!

I have stayed twice at Hotel Erasmus and loved it. Tom the owner is as sweet as they come and he provides a great breakfast. Big, clean rooms and a great restaurant. The hotel is located 1 minute from the Belfery tower and has rooms facing the canal, not sure about the balcony.

If you enjoy being treated like a queen or king and love fabulous food you must try "Kardinaalshof". I have worked in 4 star restaurants and Kardinaalshof is at the top. Last trip to Europe my father and I rented a car and drove from Paris just to eat there!! If you go please tell the owners, Frankie and Madame that the Smiths from D.C. send their love and will see them again at Christmas!

One more for Adornes.. was just there 2 nights ago and loved it. Nice bonus is the free internet they have behind the front desk. Other hotels have charged anywhere from 5-10 euro an hr to use theirs. 5not using your own laptop, this is using theirs)

Good luck!
