Locando Cipriani
We are thinking of going to Torcello and having lunch at this restaurant on our upcoming trip to Venice. The website for the resturant gives no prices - that's always a bit scary. Anyone eaten there? about how much was it? was it worth it? Thanks! Sue

I ate there twice about 20 years ago. If the weather allows, the setting in the garden is lovely. But: I found the prices high even then and the food average.
About 10 years ago, I ate at Al ponte del diavolo, which is on the footpath on the way to the Torcello churches and the Locanda Cipriani. The price was reasonable and the food was very good.
When I was in Venice in 2003, Al ponte del diavolo looked closed and run-down. I've seen good reviews of it since then, but I preferred to return with the boat to Burano and to eat a risotto alla crema di scampi (to die for!) at Da Romolo. The Gatto Nero on Burano also has an excellent reputation, in particular for fish dishes.

Had a most wonderful lunch at the Locanda Cipriani..Seated in the garden
and both food and service was excellant.
Worth it, yes, some very pleasant memories about that lunch still remain and that was a few years ago. Pricey,

It's been almost 25 years since my husband and went there and the dollar was certainly in better shape, but if I had to hock the kids to go there again I think I would do it. It is one of our favorite travel memories. The island is wonderful, we were there in early October and ate in a grove of Pomegranate trees. We didn't order soup to nuts meals. My husband had the soupa de peche (if it's still on the menu and it might be since it was a specialty by all means order it) and we both had the crepes a la creme (another fabulous specialty) plus they serve ice cream cones and we shared one. There are very few places where I can tell you what I had to eat - so that says a lot right there. The boat trip out is great too, you feel like the pampered of Venice. I say go, cash in the jewelry or whatever it takes, but go - you won't regret it.
