Linguistic appreciation for the francophones

A friend sent me a note that included this phrase as a definition of the family's hectic life:

La vie passe à l'allure d'un express fou, et nous laisse
stupéfaits sur le quai avec nos valises!

That certainly sums up my family's life - except, of course, when we're in France

Michael ... that's a great description.

However, now that I have retired, I don't even worry about getting to the station!

Michael, that sentence sounds like it means that life is passing those people by. Time is flying and they're just watching.

Y'know, that sounds as if it actually means something.

One does not usually bring a suitcase to just watch the trains go by.

Life passes by with the speed of a crazy express train, leaving us stupefied on the platform with our luggage!

Michael,

Je suppose que je comprends le français à ma façon. Le temps et les trains express passent vite. Qu'on ait fait ses valises ou pas, on risque de rater le train. Comme on a dit, il vaut mieux consulter les horaires avant d'aller à la gare.

I had only intended to post a well-turned phrase, not a Rorschach (sp?) test.
