Six members of my family will be spending 4 days in Sorrento and on at least one day we will be hiring a driver to visit the towns along the Amalfi Coast and Salerno. Any experience with a particular service good or bad as well as their drivers? Suggestions?<BR><BR>What did you pay. My inquires have brought back rates in the $50.00 per hour range, although I thought I had seen posts that mentioned hiring a car and driver in the $120.00 range for about 6 hours.

I highly recommend the Gargiulos, who are based in Sorrento. They are a father-son team, both speak excellent English and are charming and funny.<BR>They can be reached at: [email protected]<BR>We used them two years ago for trips from Naples to Positano, then Positano-Sorrento-Pompeii-Rome. These days were the highlights of our trip. Really great guys, and best of all, I found them on this forum!<BR>Good luck!

I would second the recommendation for Marcello. My husband &amp; I used his services for a whole day in 9/01 for the Amalfi Coast to Paestum. It was well worth it. Offhand it cost 150-200 USD (I do not have my notes with me).

Thank you all for your suggestions. I e-mailed Marcello and asked about his services. He informs me he charges $500.00 for the day for 6 people in his van. This is double the cost of other transportation services I contacted. I'm sure he is very good but I'm not willing to pay that amount for someone to drive us up the Amalfi Coast. Sorrento limousine sounds more reasonable in that they have offered to provide a van and driver/guide for $250.00
