limo service rome

We have returned from 1 month in Italy. Reviewing the posted questions with our new found knowledge brings us an interesting perspective. One thing that needs comment is the limo service that I would happily and assuredly recommend to all.. highly spoke of on this site...it does not disappoint.Speak with Andrea. Very professional establishment.A perfect way to begin your trip.
One huge warning...Il Paiolo in Florence...avoid. Over-priced,over salted food..uncaring service...far too busy to accomodate customers properly... Family...schmamily...it's a rip-off!!Several unhappy patrons the night we were there. It was our last night and should have been special. On the other hand a restaurant that should not have been good....too touristy, one would think of the area...the Golden view open bar..over the Ponte vecchio.. Surprisingly GOOD.Italy was wonderful!! Cannot wait to return.

I just returned from Italy on Monday. When we arrived in Italy on Oct 4 we were to have the services of limoservicerome.com which was highly touted on this site.

It did not work out very well at all but it may not have been entirely the fault of the company. Supposedly there was something wrong with the highway. However, all the other companies SEEMED to have no problem picking up there passengers.

I wonder if I should say something to the company or do you think it is too late or inapropriate? (sp?)

I talk about my experience in my trip report: http://fodors.com/forums/pgMessages....48&start=0

We used Limo Service Rome during our stay in Rome this month. Were very pleased with the service - prompt (arriving 10 minutes early each way) and professional drivers. Would definitely recommend them. Paid 42 euro for FCO to Piazza Navona.

I have used Bob's Limos for the past 6 yeqars and referred many others, all with positive results. His drivers are not only professional, they are well versed in the history of Rome and Italy and the cars are uniformly immaculate.

We had great service from airportshuttle.it . They gave us transport from FCO to hotel and the return trip. We also used them for a one day excursion by private van from Rome to Pompeii and it worked out great. I think we paid $370 EURO for a 10 hour day. They were very prompt and polite and stopped wherever we wanted. I would highly recommend them.

I don't know about the limo service, but regarding your comments on the restaurant. I can't help but notice how often people say the food was too salty in various restaurants in Tuscany. Well, guess what, salty food IS characteristic of Tuscan cooking. Maybe you didn't care for the salt but that's like complaining about a restaurant in Mexico because the food tasted of cilantro.

Patrick, anyone?

I would like to know what to do about what happened with my limo service situation.

I was going to just chalk it up to the way things go but after reading many posts on this board I see that isn't necessarily true. Perhaps it is just too late to say anything to the company?

plmn - Perhaps they have a new driver that isn't very good and needs to be reported. I have used Limo Service Rome and didn't have any problems. It's also possible that there was road construction or a wreck that delayed the driver. I know you said other drivers were there but they might not have been coming from the same area that he was or he had an earlier run that ran into problems. I think I would e-mail them and let them know just in case it is an employee problem.

Thank you for the advice Kybourbon. I will let them know what happened just for their own edification.

Hmm....we didn't notice salty food, but that's interesting considering we never could quite get used to the bread served in the area, which, as we understand, is made *without* salt.
