for ? (x@xx)

Lido di Jesolo is on a sandy strip of land between the deltas of the Piave band Sile rivers on the Adriatic coast in the Veneto region of Italy, and is only an hour by bus and ferry from Venice.

geraldine, it has been a few years since I was in Jesolo but I am sure it hasn't changed that much.

You will find many British visitors there some of whom appear to like the place a lot and return each year. Excellent beaches (mostly ‘pay to use’ unless attached to your hotel) and I remember reading somewhere that it has close to 15 miles of them.

There is a wide range and a great number of hotels. They tend to all be situated on or close to the one long road that runs parallel to the beach. I don't recall the town having a 'centre' as such.

We took a number of tours when we were there and recommend the day trips to: Venice, its islands Burano, Torcello and Murano, Austria (if I recall correctly the tour ended in Klagenfurt) and Cortina d’Ampezzo (it rained, heavily)

Your teenagers will hopefully enjoy the beach where we saw handball, tennis and beach volleyball. Go-karting and horse riding was available too.
Thanks Rob for your reply.I have been to Venice myself with my mother and fell in love with the place. I thought Lido de Jesolo would be ideal as a beach resort and as you suggest is close enough then to take day trips. Looking forward to holidays but still finding difficulty getting information on Lido de Jesolo but I appreciated your reply.

I visited the Lido di Jesolo once, out from Venice, going there in the afternoon and returning at night (actually I went to visit a cousin that was lodged in an appartment there). I must say I didn't pay much attention but I didn't see anything one could classify as a "sight". It's very much as Rob describes ... a long strip of buildings.

I used boat/bus transportation to get there and my cousin drove me to the train station for my return trip pretty late at night. I can tell you that one has to allow for at least 3 hours time to get back and forth to Venice's main island on public transportation.

Paulo

I've a been a lot of times to Jesolo.
If swimming is your basic interest, it is nice place to stay. There are hotels, restaurants, shops, most of them middle or lower quality. But nothing else.Until end of April and after end of September it is deserted, most of the hotels etc,are closed. Not all of them.July and August it is full of Italian families.Going to Venice, first you have to take a car or bus to Punta Sabbioni,it is a 20 min ride. There are regular boats to Venice stopping at Lido, arriving very near to Piazza San Marco.Hotels are MUCH cheaper then those in Venice. There are some other resorts Caorle,Lignano, they are not so big,so they have a better atmosphere.
