LHR to Knightsbridge: Heathrow Express or Car Service
I've seen a few related posts, but wanted to get fresh input into my situation.

Family of four, two kids 8 & 10, arrive LHR on a Sunday in March at about noon. Going to a flat in Knightsbridge with modest amount of luggage (one week stay).

Do you recommend Heathrow Express/taxi or a car service? If you have a recommendation for a specific car service, I would appreciate it.

I'd highly recommend Swiss Cottage Cars to meet you at the airport and help you -- one fee, probably 25 pounds (but have never done it with four people-maybe a little more expensive). You need to call them about a week ahead and set it up, making sure they know you need a larger car for the four of you. You will also need to know your flight details and time (they will confirm with the airlines your actual arrival time, in case it is early or late) and the exact address of your destination.
from the states: 011-44-20-7431-2700.
There are other services with websites, but they will cost more.
I can't believe four tickets on the Express plus a taxi to Knightsbridge will be less expensive, and in fact, would be a whole lot more trouble than a car service direct from the airport to your front door.

I also recommend Swiss Cottage cars. I used to use them all the time on trips to the airport (cheaper, about 21 pounds from my neighbourhood), and used them once or twice on the way back. If there are two or more of you going to Central London, a car service is often cheaper (and a lot more convenient). The downside is that it might take you longer to get where you're going. The Heathrow express takes only 20 minutes (but then you have to add 5-10 minutes to walk to the platform, and then travel time on the other end). A car could easily take 40-60 minutes to get into London. (But again, it's worth it if you've got two kids, and you've probably flown overnight.)
