LGW overnight

I need a recommendation for an overnight @ or near LGW.
We shall be returning from Porto mid evening Tuesday and leave Wed morning for DFW after 4 nights in the UK and 8 nights in Portugal.
We probably simply need a place to "crash".
Many thanks and best wishes.

Have stayed at The Gable Inn Guest House, Horley and would do so again.

Another vote for Gable, it's very nice and they will drive you to the airport in the morning.

Hi Mike,

We stayed at the Belmont in Horley. They have shuttle service to/from LGW.

I transit LGW quite a lot. My absolute favorite is Le Meridien right at/in the airport. It is just a short walkway from the North terminal checkin and also there are shops. You can even take your luggage cart to the room. Nothing beats getting off a plane and going right to your room. No transportation worries, just arrive and sleep. The same applies to your departure day. Just check out of hotel and you check in for your flight in minutes. They also do day rooms. Hope this helps

Like Parislady, I have also used Le Meridien. Got a GREAT 70GBP rate through lastminute.com (make sure you print out the confirmation). Le Meridien is particularly good for very early morning departures from the terrminal to which it's attached because many of the hotel shuttle services don't start operating til 7am. We had an inter-Europe flight though. Not sure if trans Atlantic flights leave from that terminal. I think the absolute cheapest place is the Ibis but not sure what it's like.

There are many previous posts on this subject (Gatwick hotels) if you do a text search. BTW, had an excellent Indian meal at a place called Raj Tandoori in Crawley.
