Les Choristes Showing in NYC

You lucky New Yorkers or anyone near can now see the French blockbuster movie "Les Choristes" (The Chorus), just released in the USA last week. This theatre is the only one I can find showing it right now. Perhaps it is also showing in some other big cities, although it is not showing near me in New Orleans.

City Cinemas Angelika Film Center
18 W. Houston St.
New York, NY 10012
212-995-2000

I saw it this spring when it was released in France, and it was spectacular! If you go, put a few Kleenex in your pocket - some tearful moments!

I won two tickets to a preview on Wednesday. Very excited because my husband sings in a chorus and this film doesn't take too much prodding for him to go!!

Oh cigale, you are going to love it, I assure you. I am so incredibly envious! I almost bought the DVD when I was in France over Thanksgiving - it was released during that week. I am dying for my two sons to see it. But French DVDs don't have subtitles, not even French ones for the hearing impaired, so without subs, my sons wouldn't be able to understand it. So I am waiting for it to play in New Orleans so that the three of us can anxiously await the DVD release - LOL!

Congrats on winning the tickets. Have a great time and think of me!

Hi, I've just purchased the soundtrack for a friend; might have to go back and pick up one for myself. Can anyone recommend any other recent French films to rent when I can't stand my travel-withdrawal? (recent, please, and thank you) J.

DC residents:

There are also previews showing tomorrow night, Jan. 24 (7:30pm) at the Gallery Place cinema in Chinatown and Tuesday night, Jan. 25 (7:30pm) at the Lowes in G'town. I have a pass for two for the Tuesday screening - you'll have to post some kind of email address.

jmw44, another new French release is Intimate Strangers (Confiances Trop Intimes) starring Sandrine Bonnaire. Very good. I saw it this spring in France, but I just rented the subtitled version from Netflix.

Another fairly new release is Love Me If You Dare and yet another Monsieur Ibrahaim, both good.
