Basically if you give way to traffic coming from your right you wont go far wrong. Anyone struggling with this concept would do well to steer clear of Hemel Hempstead's "magic roundabout " a conglomeration of six mini roundabouts surrounding one large one.

That's just plain playing mean. You'll scare everyone off from ever driving on holiday in the UK. (Why would a tourist want to drive in the centre Hemel Hempstead anyway??) Its actual name is the Plough Roundabout)

Mainly for the round about

Wiki

In 2005, it was voted the worst roundabout in a survey of the general public by a UK insurance company.[8] In September 2007, the Magic Roundabout was named as one of the world's worst junctions by a UK motoring magazine.[9] In December 2007, BBC News reported a survey identifying The Magic Roundabout as one of the "10 Scariest Junctions in the United Kingdom";[10] however, the roundabout provides a better throughput of traffic than other designs and has an excellent safety record, since traffic moves too slowly to do serious damage in the event of a collision.[11]

Years ago, I used to visit a client company whose UK HO was in HH and used to drive through that roundabout every time. It may look daunting but it is actually pretty straightforward. You just treat every roundabout as a separate entity. The traffic flow was always pretty good as I recall.

I think the concept was imported from The Netherlands where I believe they are commonplace (doesn't make me want to go visit )

The Netherlands (and now in the UK) have similar with a bicycle roundabout around it.

Again, very easy to use as long as you keep below 20mph
