Leaving at 6PM for Rome!

Well, we are so excited to be making our first trip to Italy. Thanks everyone for all the good advice, and I will try to keep a few notes so I can report back here on our adventures.

My last dumb question (for this trip, not for life): WHy does my boarding pass say Leonardo da Vince Airport, when I thought it should say Fiumincino? What's the connection?
Thanks all! Oh, and by the way we are really jealous of everyone in Italy this week when the weather was 70 and sunny. Next week - rain. We'll still have fun!

Hi Suki,
This was the "old" name of the airport. It's like National Airport in Washington, DC becoming Ronald Reagan Airport.

Have a marvelous time, and let us know how everything went when you return!

Buon Viaggio,
BC

I believe Fiumicino = Leonardo Da Vinci.

I may have the dumb question by asking you as to how early does one get a boarding pass nowadays? I mean, a 6 pm flight and you have boarding pass in the morning (I assume that you are currently not in some airport where you have to catch a flight to another airport that connects you to a flight to Rome - hence, pre-boarding passes for a much later flight).

Official name is Leonardo da Vinci. Fiumicino is the name of the fishing village where the airport is located, it's still what most people call it. And the airport's code is still FCO.

Thanks, everyone. ezlivin, you can check in and get a boarding pass 24 hours before the flight. This was my first international check-in over the internet and I did need to provide passport info.

You're right. I forgot that some airlines provide for printing of Boarding Pass from the internet 24-hours before departure.
