Le Marais area Paris

Our first trip to Paris coming up in June,
found a nice reasonable small apartment in
LeMarais to rent.

Can anyone tell me if it is relatively safe
convenient in the Isle de France area a block from the Seine.

Thank you (or should I say Merci)

All of Paris is in the "Ile de France" area... I know you say a block from the Seine, but it would be best to provide the exact street address for further advice...maybe even the link to the apartment information.

I love the Marais, but, yes, Travelnut's right, an exact address would help greatly.

The newbie who just requested info on this area. Thanks for the responses.
Part of ad states:

Ile de France Arondissement 4 block from Seine, Isle St. Louis, block from Metro 1

Again, merci, Tania

Tania, do you have the link if there is one?

In very general terms, I wouldn't consider anything on Ile Saint Louis remotely unsafe....if, in fact, that's where this apartment is located. We rented an apartment on the island a couple of Christmasses ago and it was a wonderful location.

tania, I noticed your second thread providing more information:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34739881

It's best to keep posting in the thread you orginally started. If you lose it, just click on your name and it will come up on the left hand list.

So, the apartment is in the 4th arrondissement, one block from the Seine. I'm renting an apartment in the same area for the first two weeks of February, on rue Mornay. My wife and duaghter were in the same apartment in August and had no anxieties about safety. There are lots of restaurants, cafés, bakeries, and food stores within a couple of blocks.

I'm also thinking about staying in the Marais this summer. Sorry can't add anything, but would like to hear more about the area. I'm looking into two studios, both a little ways from tania's, one about 5 minutes walking from the Musee Picasso (3rd) and one about 5 minutes from Place des Vosges (4th). How extensive is the Marais? Do you know if the areas I mentioned are fairly safe?

One thing to be concerned with is public transportation--metro and/or bus. With the address, someone on the board can provide the information.

To cleo4, either area is great. The Place des Vosges is a neat square with lawn, trees, and benches. It's great on a summer's day as people can sit on the lawn. Across from the Place des Vosges is a nice restaurant, Ma Bourgogne, which has tables set out under the arcades. It's nice to have lunch (in the shade) and people watch. They are on a cash basis only however. You'll love the Marais.

Impressive apartment in a perfect location. Near the St Paul metro station, where there is also a stop for the 69 city bus.

tania, that is a great looking apartment. I think it is probably very close to the one I'm renting next month:

Very pretty, and, no, you don't have to worry about safety.

Don't know if you've rented an apartment for vacation before, but do make sure you know exactly waht you're getting (not a lot of photos there, I see).

Lovely location! Enjoy Paris.

Thank you all for your help.
I found that the apartment is on Rue Charlemagne in the village of St. Paul.
