Le Hameau in St. Paul - help with room question- Underhill???

We have booked Le Hameau in St. Paul based on recommendations by several Fodorites. We have room number 2 for 2 nights in April.

I found a website that shows the room and bath for room 2 and it doesn't seem to match the description given by Underhill. I am just wondering if this picture is the room 2 Underhill described with 2 sinks and teak shelves, etc. Please take a look at it. The link is http://www.saintpaulweb.net/spw/e_index.html

I only see one sink and no teak shelves, etc. Just curious. We are looking forward to staying at Le Hameau. Thanks!!!!

Ginny

drat! the address should of course be

www.le-hameau.com

now, the bathroom in #2 (btw, the room is up a steep but short flight of stairs) is long. at the far end there are two windows that open; the curtain rod across the top is ideal for handing laundry. the toilet is at that end of the room, hidden behind the wall; on the other side is the bathtub/shower. at the door end of the room is a bidet. across from the tub is a long counter with 2 sinks, with storage space beneath. on either side of the counter are teak shelves, on of which is covered with a teak lattice.

the room has a little entrance area, with the bathroom off to the right. then comes the bedroom, with twin beds, a fireplace, a large chest of drawers, a round table and 4 rush chairs, and a bench under the windows between the beds and the large closets. at the front of the room is a nice little desk and chair behind another set of windows. to the left of the desk is the windowed door leading onto the loggia, which has a table and 2 chairs. and that's it.

i wonder whether the new owner has re-numbered the rooms? #2 is on the first (our second) floor off a hall; there are 3 or 4 other rooms as well.

i'll try to post a link to some photos we took last september--they're on the snapfish web site.

p.s. none of the bathrooms shown under the orange-décor room is the one in room #2.

Underhill,

Thanks for your help. I definitely do not have the same room #2 as you had. Mine has a double bed with a private terrace. It must be on the ground floor. I know what your room # 2 was now, that first one with the 2 twins beds with the orange bedspreads.

No big problem, but that room does sound great with the fireplace and the double sinks, etc.!!!

Was that considered a suite or apartment room? Mine is called a double room and is 170 Euros a night. I bet your room was more than that. I may write back to see if they have a suite available, just in case.

Thanks for all your trouble straightening this out for me. I was just confused. I wish they had more photos of their rooms on their website or more details about each room. I know I am one that likes to know ahead of time exactly what to expect.

They sent me a photo and I think it is the same one that is shown on the St. Paul website as number 2. It's a double bed with a reddish and white bedspread. The photo they sent me had more of the room in it and it was not very large.

I am sure we will be happy there anyway. It looks like such a cute and clean place!

Ginny

I think I am going to ask for a larger room.

the old le hameau web site had more pictures--i think those disappeared when the site was updated. our room was a twin, not an apartment or junior suite. we paid

tell the management that you want the room with the orange bedspreads, fireplace, and loggia! i wonder if i got the room numbers mixed up? i've deleted my reservation message, alas, and so can't check. i think we paid around 175€, though. the c/c charge included 2 breakfasts (good: yogurt, croissants, baguette, cheese, homemade jams and marmalade); so i can't verify the exact amount for the room.

Now, I'm confused! However, all the rooms looked nice and we are only staying one night so it doesn't matter if we have the 'view' room.
I sent my first request last fall and had to wait as ownership was changing. This spring I got a return e-mail that booked me into Rm #2 and they said it was the room overlooking the Mediterranean, so will see. I don't think I've seen pictures of the rooms since last fall.

there are several rooms with a view down to the Med, mostly the ones on the first (second) floor. the best views come with the loggia rooms--but the best of all is out by the beautiful pool.

Underhill,

Thanks for posting the link to the photos but it is asking for an email address and a password. Not sure how to get in.

You must register. it asks for your email and make up a password. I just tried and the site wasn't working, maybe it's my PC?

Thanks!

mystery solved! "our" room at le hameau is no. 3, not no. 2. sorry for the confusion.
le hameau sent along a room photo in response to my request for the correct number; send me your address, gopack, and i can forward the message to you. i'm at

[email protected]

mimi,

i gave my husband a list of people to "invite to view" the photos, and i thought your name was on it. guess not; i'll have him do the necessary so you can see the photos.
