Does anyone recommend that I call Le Coupe Chou and make reservations for October? How busy does it get at that particular place?

If you want to go there, I'd call for the reservation. Personally , we were underwhelmed with the food, though the setting is nice.

We ate there in October 2005 and just stopped by the evening before to make reservation for the next night. We also were very underwhelmed by the food. Our meals were mediocre at best. The atmospere was more attractive than the food and staff was less than friendly. We highly recommend Les Bouquinistes--it probably cost more than Le Coupe Chou but well worth it. It is near ND on the opposite side of Seine on Rue St. Augustins.

We made same day reservations in May of '05 and enjoyed our meal; my entree ("starter&quot was some kind of eggplant and cheese dish that was delicious. However, I've read not-so-good things about it on here since then so would be hesitant to recommend at this point.

I've passed it a dozen times as we always eat at Le Petite Prince almost across the street (but sadly, I understand it recently closed). For years I've seen dozens of comments about Le Coupe Chou and other than positives about the setting, I can count on one hand the ones that said anything great about the food.

Now I am disappointed Patrick. I had Le Petit Prince on my list for next month's trip

Well, we ate there as usual in July, but on the new Zagat's survey for Paris it says "recently closed" next to Le Petite Prince. Sad but true, I guess. It certainly wasn't from lack of business. I suspect the owner has made enough he decided to retire?

I just ate at Le Petit Prince on September 5... this is the one on rue de Lanneau 5, right? I had read about it here on Neopatrick's trip report and had a great meal there. They had the best house wine I had in my two and a half weeks in France...

So, unless they closed VERY recently, they are still open. They were quite busy and showed no signs of shutting their doors as far as I could tell. So, Jody, check it out.

That is interesting. It was on another website where the issue of its closing was brought up and seemed to be confirmed. But geez, that's just over 2 weeks ago you ate there.

So I returned to Zagat's, and the indication that le Petite Prince was closed now seems to have disappeared. Maybe it was all just a horrible mistake!

Maybe they were closed for vacation!

There is another restaurant with similar name: Au Petit Prince--maybe it's closed.
When I googled Petit Prince, the one on rue Lanneau came up as Le Petit Prince de Paris.

Last week Zagat's survey form did in fact have the "right" Le Petite Prince specifying "Rue Lanneau" as being closed. Somebody must have screwed up somewhere, because they now seem to have changed that on the form.

I'm glad to hear it's open; I will be in Paris in a couple of weeks with 2 "newbies", and I think Le Petit Prince would be a great place to take them.

Nini thanks for the recommendation! Looks like a real savy place. Ill probably wear a casual sweater dress. Do you think my husband could get by with jeans a blazer type jacket?

If you're asking about Les Bouquinistes, yes a sweater dress and jeans...neat ones ..with a blazer are fine. Excellent food !

Patrick, all is well! I just spoke with a friend who had dinner at Le Petit Prince this past Saturday. He did say they'd added a few extra tables though.

Good news, I think. But if I had anythink I wasn't too thrilled with at Le Petite Prince it would have been how crowded the tables are. They really fitted a few more in? How was that possible?

Updating an old thread, to say we very much enjoyed our dinner for two at Le Petite Prince on rue de Lanneau last week. Service was a tad slow, because a huge party of 30 was seated shortly after us. But we really liked our dinner there.

Our first night in Paris, we had waited an hour to get a table at the crammed Le Coupe-Chou. We walked down the street to Zig Zag to get drinks, which was a lively and fun place which puts a slice of candy on your cocktail glass rim.

We were underwhelmed by Le Coupe-Chou. Service was awful, as the place was full and only three people were working. Our 'waiter' also answered the phone, seated people, and appeared to be the restaurant manager. My beef steak was fatty and not so good.
