I'm planning visit to Ukraine from France, to search for family. Must get to Lviv. Does anyone have latest info on buses or trains to Lviv from Krakov or from Budapest. Or just best flight deal to Lvov. I live near Nimes and Montpellier so can get to Nice, Barcelona, Zurich fairly easily or Paris. I'm looking of course, for the cheapest and the quickest way to get there.

At the moment am thinking of flying to Krakow or Warsaw and am trying to work out how to get to Lviv from there.

Krakow is closer.

Getting to Lviv is not convenient. I tried in January. As I recall the Eurolines bus has a route from Krakow to Lviv. It also has a route from Warsaw to Lviv but that one goes through Belarus which requires a visa. There are trains and night trains IIRC.

I thought that the Ukrainian visa requirement for Americans was abolished last fall.

Can't help with your questions but am interested in hearing about your trip. My mother is also from Lviv and I would like visit the city for the same reason - find any family, graves, etc. I found a street map on the web and was able to locate where she once lived. That was exiting.
