late night to Rome

We fly in to FCO around 1030 pm. From my research the trains stop running at around 10 pm. What is the best way to get to Rome to stay in a hotel for the night?? If Taxi is the answer could you speculate on the cost of a taxi to West Rome?

The Leonardo Express runs at five and 35 past the hour until 11:35. You will be able to make the train.

Taxi cost would be 35-55 euros, depending on if you book ahead with one of the better/cheaper services recommended here or just grab an official cab.

Remember that you would likely take a cab from Termini to your hotel. You might as well start the cab ride at the airport.

HI K,

The shuttle train will cost about 23E for two.

Hi KM - These Rome limo companies have often been recommended here for airport transfers:

www.airportshuttle.it

Hope this helps ...

I wouldn't use the Leonardo Express if you need to go to west Rome. Some of the limo services charge an extra late night fee so be sure to ask.

What happens if you book a limo for the ride into Rome and the flight is 3 hours late??

It depends on the policies of the limo service. Usually they request your flight information so they can check arrival status for themelves.

ellenem you helped me with my NY trip last October too! I always appreciate your responses.

Are international flights usually on time?? One limo service says they will wait 90 minutes from scheduled landing time. I am very practical and will have a hard time paying for a limo and then if my flight is late have to turn around and pay for another, or a taxi.

I know it is a very generalized question. Sorry for about that.

My experience in general is that flights from the US arrive on time or early because of the tailwind. Once in a while the wind hinders the flight, but not by much.

Any delay you have will probably be stateside before you depart (so the info will be available to the limo service) or waiting for luggage at FCO (three hours? probably not).

Which hotel? You said west Rome, but that could mean anything. Taxis are supposed to be a flat rate of 40€.

There are other trains from the aiport that run as late as 11:30, but it would depend on where you are going.

kybourbon, we are staying at this hotel.

Melia Roma Aurelia Antica Hotel
39-06-66-54-41
Via Degli Aldobrandeschi 223
Rome, IT

From all the replies to this post I figured that a limousine service was the best.

Limo is best for that location. Should be pretty easy from the airport--you won't even have t deal with central Rome.

That won't be far from the airport so taxi or limo would work and not take very long. There is a train leaving the airport at 22:57 but would involve a change at Trastevere (23:23) before getting to Roma Aurelia station at 23:46(close to your hotel). The cost would be 5.5€. I wouldn't want to arrive at a station I wasn't familiar with late at night.

I have been to these three websites since they were recommended. Anyone have a bad experience?? One I should stay away from?? They all seem pretty comparable.
I appreciate everyones input so far, Thanks.

I've used Limo Service Rome and they were very good about e-mailing. They even e-mailed to warn us about the heat in Rome (heat wave of 2003). Make sure you don't confuse them with Limo Service(s)Rome as there are many complaints about them.
