Last night in Paris-Hotel by CDG?
We will be coming from Rennes on TGV to Paris Montparnasse on the day before our departure from Paris CDG. Hotel by airport or in town? Our flight is at 7am so we will really not get to enjoy the room. Any suggestions on hotels with shuttles or by airport? Least expensive way from Montparnasse station to CDG? We will have already spent 5 days in Pris earlier on the trip.

There is much discussion about this on the board. My opinion is to go to CDG and stay at the Ibis. It is about 85 euro and is very convenient and perfectly adequate. I don't know your hotel requirements but there is a Sheraton or Hilton next door, which I recommend for dinner. There is a piano in the lobby-bar and makes a nice tranquil transition. In the morning, the shuttle bus to the terminal is just outside the door. No hassle! CJ

I second CarolJean. I also suggest that you check the gate assignment and departure time and leave early for airport. We ended up with a gate change, earlier departure time and some of our party had a shuttle breakdown. They almost missed the plane. I almost had a meltdown as we begged & pled with security people not to shut the gate in their faces 1 hour before take off. Then we left an hour late & missed our connection in MIA & spent the night there. Delta/Air France paid for it.

I'm with the others stay at Ibis at the airport. We did when we there a few months. There are actually three Ibis altogether, 2 within the actual grounds and one just outside. We stayed at the one outside which was substantially cheaper than the two on the airport grounds and you still get the same shuttle bus door to door as with the other hotels. Whilst nothing to rave about it was clean and comfortable. Also check when you get on the shuttle bus exactly which sections of the airport it is going to. We assumed all shuttles go to all the gates but they don't necessarily do so. We had to swap shuttles to get to our gate. By staying at the airport you don't need to deprive yourself of a final night in Paris. We booked into the hotel. Caught the train into town (approx 1/2 hr) had a wonderful dinner, final wander around town and headed back to the hotel at about 10.30pm. Make sure you check what times the shuttles finish up at night so you don't get back after the last shuttle. We had no problem at 11.00 pm at night and make sure you know which Ibis you are at. We hadn't realised there was more than one Ibis and so were stumped for a couple of minutes when we were asked which Ibis.

On an overnight layover at CDG I stayed at the Sheraton. It is in the airport with its lobby opening right out into the airport hallway. In the evening I took the RER to Metro Luxembourg, had dinner at one of my favorite places on Blvd. Montparnasse, made a nice walkaround to St. Michel, and caught a late RER back to the airport. Rolled out of the Sheraton the next morning and walked to AF check-in. The Sheraton could not be more convenient.

We also stayed at the Sheraton, took the RER into Paris and wandered around some and got up for our flight the next a.m. Hotel was very quiet and modern and was a good palce to sort of get ready to get back to reality of the States.
