large supermarket in Munich - where?
Can someone tell me where in Munich I can find a large supermarket -- and how to reach it from Hotel Uhland by Metro? Previously we have shopped at three smaller markets walking distance from the hotel but I would like to find a larger one with more selection. Thanks.

Ask the lovely people at reception at the Uhland. They will be glad to advise you. There may be a supermarket at the Hauptbahnhof, which is easily reachable by bus. Alternatively, if I remember correctly, the two big department stores (can't remember the names) between the Uhland and the Marienplatz both have supermarkets in the basement.

Hi crckwc1,
You can use google maps to locate nearby supermarkets.
First pull up a map of your hotel in München, then click on the letter in the circle and click on "find nearby." Do a search for these supermarkets:
Rewe
Tangelmann
Feneberg
Edeka
One of them should be fairly close to you.

Most of the larger supermarkets such as Real are not easy to get to and quite frankly are not worth the hassle.
The quality and selection of food / clothing etc is pretty poor, and the shopping experience is no way close to what you get in the department stores in the city

Not worth the hassle.
If you want a larger selection of more deli type foods, you can try the food hall of Karstadt department store at the central station.
Otherwise the malls have larger regular supermarkets (and are easy to reach with public transport), i.e. Pasing Arcaden (at Pasing S-Bahn station) and Riem ARcaden (subway line 2 to Messestadt West).
If you want a larger selection of more deli type foods, you can try the food hall of Karstadt department store at the central station.
