Dearest Degas,
<This ancient rite is done to comfort the spirits of the deceased, and to pray for peace and harmony in the world.>
Thank you for sharing your beautiful words with us, it brought tears to my eyes.
May you have peace and harmony in YOUR world, I will pray for that and for your ticket east.
A huge hug for you >

Thank you Degas for your warm and wonderful post. I lived the experience through your words and felt chills as I imagined the lanterns sailing across the water.
Best of luck to you and may you be soaring eastward soon.

That is a beautiful description of a moving ceremony- thank you for sharing.. not just that moment in your life but all the moments you have shared here. Many times we fail to thank the people who have helped us. You have a unique way of sharing. It includes humor, frankness and did I mention humor?
A teacher once described my daughter as a "true human being" meaning she lived her life with concern for others. You fit that category, Degas. You are a true human being. Much happiness and strength to you.
Love from an Italy lurker.
