Lake Maggiore - hotel help! Orig. hotel cxld

Need some suggestions

We are doing a 10 day trip in April to Northern Italy - after 3 nights in Bellagio, our last 2 nights were planned to be in Stresa on Lake Maggiore at the Antico Palazzo. However, we just got an email that the hotel is sold and is cancelling our reservation.

Any other suggestions of nice boutique hotels on Lake Maggiore?? We would like to spend around 175-250 euro. We are driving to MXP, so we chose Stresa for the proximity.

Any suggestions are appreciated - even if the hotel is not in Stresa - we would be willing to move if you have a favorite. We will have a car. Thanks!

You might want to try the Lido Palace Hotel in Bevano.

Jessica, I know that area and do not really know of any boutique hotels--wish there were. The one I used to use went 5 star with prices to match. There are several larger resort hotels, but you know that. Here is my suggestion. After 3 nites in Bellagio, drive to Stresa in time to spend 4 hours seeing the Isles etc., then drive over to magical Lago Orta for your last 2 nites www.orta.net. We like the Hotel Orta, but it is a bit used around the edges. The best in town is the San Rocco--a nice 4 star. You are still :45 from Malplensa. You will love Orta !

Thanks bobthenavigator- you helped me much with planning this trip in previous postings. I heard Lake Orta is nice - I was thinking of switching there. I will check it out. Any other advice is much appreciated! Thanks!

If you email Hotel Orta tell Signoria Oglina that I sent you--ask for a lake view. Take the half board plan here--a good deal. The other good 3 star in town is on the hill above the village named Hotel Bussola---not at all bad and great views. If you want some photos of the village look at the web site above or send me an email from my slowtrav.com ad.
