Sorry cnicols
I haven't checked this forum since I returned from Italy in Nov. We loved Sirmione! We stayed at Hotel Marconi for 2 nights. The hotel was excellent, right on the lake, and an amazing breakfast! Sirmione is a lovely town. The castle is something from a fairy tale and there are Roman ruins on a bluff over the lake. We had wanted to see other towns on the lake, but the water taxis don't run after Oct. We found plenty to do on the peninsula and enjoyed walking on the beach, shopping in the quaint stores and sunning on the pier. (We had beautiful weather for the end of Oct.) The day we arrived was All Saints Day and the streets were packed! Our taxi barely made it through the narrow streets. After that the town was almost empty. Let me know if you have any other questions.
