The main thing is to skip the underwire...You'll breathe easier, especially when it's hot! I also like to make sure I take 3 bras with me...1 to wash out in the sink and leave hanging to dry, 1 to wear in the morning, and 1 to change into in the afternoon when you're soaking wet and sweaty. This works for me. If you can find a bra with any cotton in it, even just a little cotton, it helps to make the material more breathable.

First off, I am a guy, and this is an interesting thread.

May I make a suggestion...

While browsing another travel page (that starts with an F as well) on Toronto I noticed a bra designer that runs an outfit there. Bras only. Specializes in fit and tough issues like this. I would suggest that some of you contact her.

As for the cool max products, they are wonderful. I use cool max socks for skiing and they literally are a foot savior.

Skipping the underwire, is like skipping the bra... not an option for some of us.

Having the proper fit of a bra goes a long way to the comfort. I always wear underwires, I just think they give me a nicer silhouette. Go to a really good store and get fitted and buy the best you can afford.
I would wear a sweater from Wal Mart before I skimped on my shoes or bras.

Oh no! It's the post that WOULDN'T DIE!

I'm in total agreement about the underwire issue.

And Budman-do you think we're going to take you at your word?

I feel more secure in an underwire bra. I'm sure it's psychological--they're like little cages for the breast. Too much information, I'm sure.
(FWIW, Calvin Klein does make bras up to a 36C at least.)

Perhaps even more important than the actual bra is what you wear on top of it. Doesn't matter how air-conditioned your bra is if you're wearing a black polyster shirt. It probably goes without saying, but light colored natural fiber shirts will do a lot to keep your bra cool and dry.

Ladies, large and small, allow me to tell you a tale of breasts and bra's. Take from it what you will.

Are you familiar with the children's classic starring Strega Nona's bubbling brew, which overflowed the pot and soon engulfed the town? That was the story of my breasts. They grew and grew until I looked like a watermelon on sticks.

In conversation, men's eyes would be infuriatingly glued to my chest. Perversely enough, to those who made the civilized, herculean effort not to stare, I felt like saying, "It's OK, go ahead, everyone else does." Dates were a series of swatting contests of a liveliness known only to Bantu trekkers beseiged by clouds of tsetse flies.

My bra's were marvels of engineering construction, exorbitantly priced. At the end of each day, my shoulders ached, the muscles in knots, from the strain of carrying that disproportionate weight. Mammograms were marathons. Three months ago, I finally rebelled. Called a plastic surgeon, scheduled a surgical reduction.

You know the Bob Seger song, "Night Moves", in which he reminisces about the girlfriend who had "points all her own sitting way up high, way up firm and high"? Well, miracles of miracles, that's me now. If I wore a bra, which I don't, it would only take a size B cup.

My husband's friends jokingly consoled him on his great loss, but his loyalty and confidence in my judgement never wavered.

Just yesterday afternoon, I was crossing a grocery store parking lot wearing a loose, silk shirt. A breeze unexpectedly swirled up beneath the shirt and moved across my bare skin like the lightest of hands. It was a moment of such pure sensuality that I shivered, giving an involuntary gasp as my knees turned to noodles.

Luckily, I was holding on to a fully loaded shopping cart.

In October, I'm returning to Paris and for once, all of me will pass through the metal detector at the same time. I am one happy woman.

Wow! The moment after I clicked "Post", I thought, "Oh, geez, am I going to get slammed on this one!"

Instead, Scarlett and Mimi came through with the kind hearted replies that characterize their posts here.

And Budman! Moved to seriousness and sympathy? Sir, you've upped my opinion of you immensely!

Thanks, you three.

A lot.

I'm hoping Budman can eventually leave his non-potable beer behind and get hooked on some good European stuff! (smile)

Spygirl, obviously you don't know me that well. I'm a wineaux (a wine lover who uses a glass).

Croque_Madame, thank you for your kind words. My hat's off to you, my lady.
