Ladies "unmentionables"-gentlemen you can pass on this one!

When I travel, we walk a lot. And it is often very very warm and I find that I perspire under my clothing. My bras get tight and uncomfortable. Does anyone have any great "travel bras" that they can recommend? Ones that wash and dry quickly and can remain comfortable throughout the long day of sightseeing?

I have not tried them but saw TravelSmith offers some in their catalog. I think maybe shopping for an excellent sports bra, like for working out at the gym, might give you a larger selection but with the comfort and breathability you are looking for.

I agree with the sports bra, makes sense that they are built to deal with perspiration. I find all lace bras to be light and comfortable.

Suze, I saw them on Travelsmith too and I think they are made with cool=max, which I love for socks. So Iwould think they would be good for bras to . Judy

Calvin Klein makes great lace underwire bras that are extremely comfortable, flattering, and dry quickly. They usually go on sale just twice a year, in January and July, so this may be a good time of year to shop.

Sorry. I know you told us guys not to look.
Its like Dustin Hoffman in that famous bathroom scene.
We just can't help it.
So, I'm leaving now. Carry on.

Hi bashful- Judy has the key: coolmax. I like to walk for hours, so it is an essential fabric for me. Mr tried & true resources:
1. You can get coolmax socks at sporting goods stores, like Modell's, but they are expensive. As is TravelSmith. ***Sierra Trading Post is my best bet. They are online and you can find a variety of socks for $3-4, which I found much more comfortable for a longer time than the $9 ones at Mo's.
** Also coolmax underwear here will be more reasonable, but panties w/b abt $10. worth it! Buy 1 or 2 to supplement your usual, wash in the sink! I haven;t tried the bras yet...

2. get coolmax leggings- like the kind you'd wear to the gym. I found them at Walmart for $8. Keep you dry in humidity winter or summer.

3. for shirts & swaters, I'd skip all that microfuber stuff which is clingy and annoying, and opt for lightweight wools & silks. I know linen fails the wrinkle test, but it really does the climate control job well. I was very uncomfortable in Italy in Nov. in cottons & blends- I was soaked to the skin the entire time from the humidity. Also bring a box' worth of panty liners to change throughout the day. Don't let anything keep you from walking to your heart's content. PS- The socks are trial & error, but you can't go too far wrong--I haven't had a blister yet!

Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask if you have more questions.

I always try to stick to bras that are comfortable all day long, as I'm often on the go a lot. All my bras dry fairly quickly, I mainly buy ones of microfiber or light cotton stretch knit. In hot weather and walking a lot, I do think my cotton bras can be more comfortable than the microfiber.

I don't find sports bras comfortable at all and wouldn't ever wear them in normal life, only for sports. All the ones I've bought for using during sports are rather heavy, tight and constricting. They are sort of like having major elastic around you to squash you in, I think that's their goal. Even if they are coolmax, I wouldn't want to wear one all day. The ones I have take a lot longer to dry than my regular bras.

Agree with Christina on the sports bra issue--they are meant to compress breasts, not to let them breathe.

Plus, the squooshed monoboob thing doesn't exactly give you a nice line under clothes.

Bras have so little fabric to them anyway that even a cotton bra dries quickly.

Re: linen. Last year I bought a linen jacket that travels fabulously. It's a rather coarse weave, maybe that's the difference. But it does not make me look like I'm wearing rumpled bed clothing, even after several hours.

I find that sometimes my bosom is a little too large to be able to close the top buttons of a blouse so I have started wearing the camisoles with built in bras.

They are comfortable for travel and don't look bad through the open blouse. I have them in lace and in nylon.

Indeed, Christina, I was reading this thread and thinking-sports bras-comfortable for daily wear? don't think so! Champion sports bras are in fact called "compression bras" for a reason-they are meant to bind and keep one from joggling around-they are MOST uncomfortable otherwise-wouldn't think of wearing them for anything other than gym/aerobics!

There are many different kinds of sports bras--from the binding type to those that are basically like a regular bra, but a lot more comfortable and made out of breathable fabric. I've pretty much ditched regular bras for the lighter sports bras. They've changed a lot in the last 5 years.

Perhaps that's so. I'm just thinking of how uncomfortable my sports bras are for the gym (speaking of which, I need to get off my can and go there right now!)

Champion has some sport bras, that look like the regular ones - but are intended for high intensity sports - very comfy - silhouette not totally like a regular bra- but much nicer above the uniboob look.

And to insert a bit of humor into this thread (as if it needed it) several years ago I tried on a sports bra (note they were pulled on overhead, no clasp in front or back.). Got it on fine, however trying to remove it, with limited movility (arthritis), could not get it off (began to hope it was not candid camera in the dressing room) as I got into hysterical laughter until my daughter entered the dressing room and rescued me. Otherwise thought I just might have had to purchase the awful thing. Have fun. Halfpint

I don't wear one unless I'm wearing a very sheer outfit or a t-shiet.

Bali has some new bras with the Cool Max lining. I used them in Italy without problems. I washed them in the hotel sink a couple of times and they dried easily overnight.
