Ladies - the dreaded shoe question
Hi,
We will be taking our first trip to Greece in June and plan on visiting ruins and doing some basic hiking (like the Oia - Fira trail in Santorini).
I'm trying to pack as light as possible and think I have it covered except for the shoes.
Should I plan on taking sneakers or walking shoes in addition to my Ecco sandals?
Thanks!

Depends on how fond you are of really dusty, dirty feet! Seriously, part of the path from Fira to Oia starts out as a paved footpath but includes some walking on the side of the road, where there may all sorts of interesting "features" you could step in. Anyway, I'm a wimp so wore closed shoes in Greece when doing a lot of walking and, to tell the truth, my feet were still pretty dirty at the end of the day.

ABSOLUTELY take your sneakers ... I can't say how many people I have seen falling due to sandals. Also, with sneakers/walking shoes you can put in foam insoles to cushion them ... when you are walking 6-8 miles, it's good. REmember, you'll be walking on ROCK a lot of the time. NOTE: Wear the sneakers on the plane, and pack the sandals. Problem solved.

If you wear Eccos, check out the Ecco mobile. This pair of shoes has been on 4 European adventures with me. The Eccos and my Birkenstock sandals for a change off or inside museums, etc. I purchased a second pair of Ecco mobile so I would have them for a future trip
