Capri pants of every lenght were all over France, e.g., Paris, St. Tropez and Provence. Black will be practical, but white is the color this year, both here in California and in France (Wow! I guess we are not that backwards in America!) Some so-called capri were more like Bermuda shorts and that coupled with heels looked very nice on some women. Plenty of people, both men and women, wore shorts in Provence, since it was hot like demons. For that same hot weather reason I would skip jeans this time of the year.

oh no its noy that... he has a pink dress shirt from Italy. Shoot he once wore a pink sports jacket when he was young but don't hold it against him. He's just very traditonal.I showed him some mens-capris and he said, "those are cargo pants".I do think they look better on young thin men'.I could get him in some bermudas but not for Paris anyway.

Oh this thread is highly amusing! I was thinking about the leggings issue before SU posted-this will indeed take up much web space on this site, as all of us weigh in (pardon the pun) on the "leggings look."
I have to say that yes, capris (particularly the draw-string ones, in a stone or green color, are still very popular, and are here to stay-with Europeans as much as American (I think European women favor the draw-string type).
But I must weigh in on the capris for men issue: I don't know about anyone else, but I wouldn't be caught DEAD with a man who wore capri pants! Ohmygod! I have seen this, only in Europe, and the first time I saw it (maybe last year?) my fashion radar went crazy-this was a HUGE no-no! Did someone say flood pants?- Men: PLEEAASE don't do this-wrong, very wrong-looking!

My husband just bought 3 pairs of these short pants on our last vacation, and he looks great in them. And as far as needing to be in shape to wear them, I'd rather see these verses shorts on some people. We're waiting for them to catch on here!

I love capris and I would not care if one other person wore them!!!!! They are here to stay IMO. I like the long shorts look also...Chico's has fab long shorts in the most comfortable fabric ever. My DH will never wear capris, but I am going to sneak a pair for him in my suitcase on our trip to Provence. Msaybe if he sees other men his age wearing them, he may relent. What do you think Neo, is he the type ;-)?

Lots of people wearing capris in Venice/Rome late June. Mostly black. It was funny. I was waiting at the baggage pick-up and I looked around & saw that half a dozen other women next to me were all wearing black/white. Even the nuns fit right in! I was very glad I brought 2 pair of black capris & felt very Italian! I remember seeing men in long baggy shorts -mostly tourists - but nothing I'd refer to as capris.

my 6'3" 215 lbs. buff husband bought his first pair of Capris in Venice 4 years ago and every year he buys more. He wears them year round. We were in Rome and the Amalfi Coast and Capri this June and July and he brought some with him and bought more. He looks great in long shorts, but out for dinner in casual restaurants Capris are cooler than long pants and much nicer looking than shorts for sure. Fashionable European men were wearing Capris. I always wear capris in black and white and other colors in Europe and where I live. White was definitely the color this summer in Italy. But he also the type of guy very secure with himself and wears shocking pink shirts and all other colors. He is a real clotheshorse and I love to see him shop!

I think young, fit men look great in capris. Older men, it's not that they look bad, it's that they look out of place, I suppose it's the male equivalent of mutton dressed up like lamb. They look better in longish shorts or slacks.

Women's capris all over Germany this year. Unfortunately, so were man-capris. I sincerely hope it doesn't catch on here in the US. Biggest problem is that 'most' men haven't a clue to what kind of shoe they should wear with them. I'm with girlspytravel, I wouldn't be caught dead with a guy in capris here.

Celtic..please don't assume any stud who is cool and confident enough to wear what you women are referring to as "Capris" would even consider being "caught dead" or any other way with you.
