Lacock Village vs. Windsor Castle

Hello
I am planning a day trip during my trip to London, I have narrowed it down to 2, one goes to Lacock Village, Bath and Stonehenge. The other goes to Bath, stonehenge and Windsor castle. I am not sure which to see. I know I will probably not have time to go on my own to see Windsor Castle if I choose the one that goes to Lacock. I did want to see a castle and will definately be going to the tower of London. I wanted to see if anyone had gone to Lacock village and what they thought.
Thanks

I went to Lacock in the summer of 2003, and enjoyed it immensely. The house is interesting, but I thought the abbey ruins beneath it really fascinating. I went with a medieval historian, who thought the ruins were some of the most extensive in England. The village was also very pleasant. I've never been to Windsor, though, so I can't compare.

Hi
I kow both places well.
Windsor Castle is one of the best castles to choose if you want to 'visit a castle'. However, Lacock to my mind is more interesting. It has the abbey ruins, the Fox Talbot Museum (which is fascinating) and the village itself is beautiful. It is used as the set for many period dramas. I think Lacock might linger more in your mind than Windsor............

Are these day trips part of an organised tour? You really need more time at Windsor Castle than alot of tour companies allow on their schedule, especially if they are visiting Bath and Stonehenge as well. However with Lacock you will get the chance to spend about 45 minutes to an hour there. For some people that is enough time, but Windsor Castle needs at least half a day. I doubt you'll get that on a tour bus.

Thanks for the replies. Since I will not have that much time, I have to take a tour.

Lacock sounds great. I do want to see Windor castle as well, but know I will not have enough time to see everything.

I know from reading other posts, windsor castle seems pretty easy to do on your own so I was thinking maybe if I end up with extra time I could take a half day and go see it on my own.

Thanks again for the replies!
